Started dead last in the consolation races where the top two move on to the main endurance race. I got that 2nd place. After a bit in the main race, I was in the top 10 for a bunch of time. About 50 laps in, my sprocket bolts came loose and the sprocket was only being held on by lock wire, my pit to kart radio went out at lap 60, and on lap 150 of the 160 lap race, my clutch caught on fire and burnt up and my day was over. Went in thinking the kart would break or I would crash out in the consolation race, but that didn’t happen haha. We did better than we ever expected and now have the credibility to do the oh so important job of finding sponsors.

I take it the safety wire not done correctly hence the bolts from coming loose in the first place...

No, the safety wire is what prevented the sprocket from coming off, I think the wrong style nuts were used. Didn’t help the threaded bolt holes in the hub were drilled out previously to do a track-side repair a week earlier.
